There are many ways to get involved! If you currently do not have a dog for therapy/crisis response work, but would like to be a "Kendra" (someone without a dog who helps the dog/handler teams), or if you have a skill you would like to share with us (website, social media, newsletter, photography, etc.), please contact us! With a variety of dogs, people, and talents, we work together to serve people in need.

"Kendras" are a vital part of our team structure. We encourage therapy dog teams to work together and we require crisis response teams to work in groups of at least two humans. Having "Kendras" gives the teams a great deal of flexibility and support.

"Kendra" job description: someone without a dog who helps the handlers with dogs while on a crisis call-out or therapy dog visit. "Kendras" help to carry supplies, get water and/or food, interact with people teams are visiting, hand out trading and business cards, find restrooms, places to potty the dogs, and places to give the dogs down time, hold dogs while handlers use the restroom, crowd control, watch us and our dogs for fatigue or stress, and whatever else the teams may need. "Kendras" follow the same rules and guidelines as our dog handlers. "Kendras" are a vital extra set of hands, ears, eyes, and feet when we are working with our dogs.

If you would like to be a "Kendra," please complete the application (found on the home page). The registration and renewal fees are also listed on the home page. Please contact us if you have any questions.
